This comedy revolves around Michael Bluth, a widower who wants
nothing more than to be a good father to his 13-year-old son George
Michael. So after being passed over as partner at The Bluth Development
Co., Michael resolves to quit the family business and move away to
spend more quality time with his son. But when his father George Bluth
Sr. is arrested for shifty accounting practices and the family assets
are frozen, Michael is forced to stay in Orange County to help
his wildly eccentric family pick up the pieces.

With his dad in the clinker, Michael reluctantly finds himself trying to
teach his offbeat family how to live without an endless expense account.
The Bluths are lead by flamboyant mother Lucille Bluth, a martini-swilling
socialite who’s left alone in her Balboa Bay Club penthouse without any
means to pay for it. Then there’s George Oscar Bluth II, the oldest son,
a struggling magician whose biggest trick will be to make a real job appear.
The youngest brother is Buster Bluth, a neurotic professional grad student
who has studied everything from Native American tribal ceremonies
to cartography (the mapping of uncharted territories).

The Bluth siblings are rounded out by sister Lindsay Funke, who is known
for her wine and cheese parties and fundraisers for unusual charities.
She’s married to the hapless Tobias, a doctor who lost his license after
performing CPR on a sunbathing tourist who didn’t need it. Lindsay and
Tobias are the ultra-permissive parents of Mae, “Maeby,” a 14-year-old
who loves finding unique ways to rebel against their over-indulgence.

Michael must do right by his family, so he agrees to return to his job
and invites Lindsey and her family to move in with him and George Michael
at his father’s latest housing tract. While there, Michael must struggle
to keep his sanity -- and his family together -- as they face the
next chapter of their lives: Chapter 11.
